One hundred years ago, on October 4, 1908 to be precise, a grand celebration was held in our village. On this day, the 60-year reign of Emperor Francis Joseph I was celebrated. On the feast of His Majesty, a memorial stone was unveiled on the right side of the cemetery road. Let us recall this event as described in the municipal chronicle.
After the solemn mass of St. held at 9 a.m., associations and school youth gathered on Tržní náměstí (today Bergerovo) and marched together in a procession to the memorial stone. The teacher and secretary of the village, Josef Klamt, very cordially greeted both the chairman of the Cultivation and Beautification Association and all the participants. Two school children recited poems, the singing group Harmonie sang the festive chorus "Our Emperor" by Labler. Head teacher Josef Thaute gave a speech to the children related to this celebration. Mr. Mayor Franz Stärz gave a ceremonial speech, after which the memorial stone was unveiled. All present sang the national anthem in unison with the band. This ended the celebration in beautiful weather. The place near the memorial stone and in front of the cemetery was prepared under the leadership of the local Farmers' Association, which actually initiated the establishment of the memorial stone and took over the execution of the jubilee celebration. The costs were covered by the municipality, donations from residents and associations.
