Commemorative plaque of Emperor FJI
The village of Maršovice is located about 4 km southeast of the center of Jablonec nad Nisou, on the saddle between Maršovický and Dalešický vrch at an altitude of 668 m.
I found the first mention of the FJI emperor's memorial plaque on the website http://spolekpatron.cz/clanek-101
Mr. Jaroslav František Švásta, photo chronicler of Maršovice, very willingly gave me the historical photos and the accompanying text. Mr. Švásta wrote to me:
I discovered the mentioned board years ago (approx. 1985) in the basement of the former old school (1905-1974) during the adaptation to the civil defense warehouse. Years later, I also found out where it used to be located, and the new owner of the building, NISASPORT-elektronik, has absolutely no objections to re-location. The walls of the school still have smeared screw holes.
The unveiling of the memorial plaque of Emperor FJI is described in the Gablonzer Tagblatt newspaper of August 28, 1908. This article was found for me in the Jablonec archives by the admirable Mrs. Petrásková and translated by my wife.
Maršovice, August 26, 1908 (Celebration of the unveiling and awarding of firefighters).
Last Sunday, our association of war veterans celebrated the unveiling of the plaque commemorating the 60th anniversary of Emperor FJI's reign, which was attended by all local associations, school youth and many residents of the village. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the local associations came out from the U Jírů and Ostrý Roh inns, after which the festive procession went to the school building, accompanied by firemen's music and cannon salvos of the village, richly decorated with flags.
At the school, Mr. Franz Hoffman, the municipal councilor and patron of the association organizing the celebration, warmly greeted all the participants on behalf of the village and congratulated the veterans' association on this patriotic gathering, after which the superintendent A. Ondruška gave a ceremonial speech, which ended with a triple shout of glory to the emperor. Then a commemorative plaque placed on the school building made by the sculptor Mr. Thorsch from Jablonec was unveiled. The granite slab is in a decorative frame, above which is an imperial crown with oak and laurel branches. The plaque bears the dedication:
For a lasting memory
for a glorious 60-year reign
His Majesty the Emperor
Francis Joseph I.

At the end, the band played the national anthem and those present joined in the singing. After some gentlemen signed the memorial book, they went to the halls of Mr. Eduard Jupp, where the letters of the head of the c.k. office were read. of the district governorship of Mr. Müller von Müllersheim and c.k. deputy governor councilor Mr. E. Strachotínský. After the heartfelt words of thanks from the chairman of the association, Mr. Josef Bouda, the official part of this celebration ended. The aforementioned Mr. Chairman was most responsible for the creation and execution of this celebration, for which he deserves the highest recognition.
On the occasion of the jubilee celebration, the local volunteer firefighters in the same locale decorated 3 members with state medals of honor and awarded honorary diplomas for 20 years of service to twenty members.
