Visitors' Memorial
Krásný Dvůr is a baroque castle in the village of the same name in the Ústí Region, in the former district of Louny. It is located 18 km southeast of the town of Žatec. It is surrounded by a large park dating from the end of the 18th century.
Between 1783 and 1793, Jan Rudolf Černín founded an extensive natural landscape park near the castle, the first of its kind in Bohemia. The open grassy areas of the park are enlivened by a number of romantic buildings, which in many places end up as dominant views. The area of the English park in Krásné Dvor is almost 100 ha. The creation of the park was influenced on the one hand by the botanical interests of Jan Rudolf and then also by the journey through Western Europe, which he undertook in 1779. At that time, a new horticultural direction began to spread to Europe from England, according to which the natural landscape was to be brought to the immediate vicinity of buildings.
In 1906, Jaromír had Count Černín of Chudenice set up the monument to commemorate rare visitors to the park. It is actually a large form of stele in the style of late classicism, with hints of art nouveau already showing. The park was visited by, among others, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Emperor Francis Joseph I, the poet Theodor Körner or Emperor Ferdinand I, whose names, along with 18 other names, are marked on a white marble plaque. The memorial also includes a stone bench under the plaque.
Emperor FJI visited the castle on September 14, 1847, still as Archduke.
