Lion statue unveiled in 1908
Krásná Lípa is a town in the north of the Czech Republic, in the northeastern part of the Děčín district. It lies on the upper reaches of the Křinice River on the border of the National Park České Švýcarsko and the Lužické Mountains.
On September 27, 1908, he organized a local German Association of military veterans (Militär-Veteranen-Verein) ceremonial unveiling of the new memorial to the fallen the battle of Solferino and in the war in 1866. The association thus simultaneously celebrated 50 years since its foundation and 60 years of government Francis Joseph I.
The statue depicts a Czech lion tearing a Prussian eagle. On its granite plinth, it had bronze plates with the names of those who died in the Prussian-Austrian War of 1866.
The author of the statue was Klement Grundig from Dresden. The statue was cast for 30,000 crowns by the Dresden company Albert Bierling.
