Monument made of basalt columns
Kamenický Šenov is a famous glass-making town, located in a beautiful hilly landscape on the border of the Lusatian Mountains and the Bohemian Central Mountains. It is located in the steep valley of the Šenovského potok on the road from Děčín to Liberec, about 5 km southeast of Česká Kamenice and 6 km west of Nové Bor.
In the middle of the area next to the church stands an about 8 m high monument of basalt columns, ceremonially unveiled on June 23, 1912 by the local Association of War Veterans in honor of Emperor Francis Joseph I. In the middle of the group of columns was a bronze relief with a portrait of the emperor, a plaque with a dedication, and the tallest column was crowned double-headed eagle. After the First World War, plaques with the names of the fallen were placed around the monument, which were removed after 1945. Today there is a simple memorial plaque to the victims of fascism.
