Church of St. Lawrence, commemorative inscription on the back of the altar
Bojkovice (German: Bojkowitz) is a town in Moravia in the Uherské Hradiště district in the Zlín Region, 12 km east of Uherský Brod on the Olšava River in the valley of the White Carpathians near the border with Slovakia. In 2011 there were over 4 thousand inhabitants. The dominant features are mainly the Nový Světlov castle and St. Lawrence Church.
I found only a short text about the commemorative inscription on the back of the altar. On the wall behind the main altar there is a valuable Baroque painting of the Virgin Mary, the work of the Olomouc painter Josef Pilz from 1743. The scene depicts the Virgin Mary standing on the globe, in a slight contrapposto with her arms crossed, her right foot treading on a snake, with angels hovering around her and a dove at the end. In the lower part sit the figures of St. Joachim and St. Anne.
There is a commemorative inscription on the back of the altar:
"MDCCCXCVI under the reign of His Holiness Leo XIII, His Majesty Emperor Francis Joseph I, His Excellency Prince Archbishop Theodore, under the patronage of His Grace Auguste Count Bellegarde, and under the parish priest Jan Nepomuk Jelinek."
