Spa complex

Jánské Koupele is a defunct settlement and spa area on the right bank of the Moravice River in the cadastre of Staré Těchanovice in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The first spa buildings were built probably only between 1811 and 1812, on the site of a well-known and plentiful spring of iron-rich, carbonated water, even though water had been imported to the castle in Melč since at least 1755

n 1895, the spa was bought by the new owner of the Vikštejn estate – Count Camillo Razumovský with his wife Maria. The Counts of Razumov, in whose possession Janské Koupele remained until the beginning of World War II, very soon correctly estimated their importance and immediately began their generous restoration and modernization. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the Jánské Koupéli was transformed into a modern spa meeting all the most demanding contemporary criteria through a systematic and very investment-intensive reconstruction.

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph I, commemorated to this day by a plaque on the wall of Villa Silesia, the Razumov family made the newly built Villa Silesia available to poor citizens who needed spa care. Those interested had to secure free places before the season, always by April 1 of the current year with the spa manager. Such a request then had to be supported by a medical certificate and a certificate of poverty.
