Imperial maneuvers at Nitra.
Maneuvers on September 5 and 7 in the area between Hlohovec (Freistadt)
and Vráble (Verebely) in the presence of the Emperor and King Francis Joseph I.. Maneuvers of the 5th Army Corps
und Vráble (Verebely) im Beisein des Kaisers und Königs Franz Joseph I.. Manöver des 5. Armeekorps
issued by the command of the corps for these maneuvers, each action constitutes a separate exercise with completely
independent functions and add-ons.
The soldiers are already scheduled to arrive at their destination on September 3. Fourteenth Infantry Division (Field Commander.
Marshal Archduke Friedrich) forms the western side and will be distributed between the towns of Hlohovec and
Aleksinka. The Western Division consists of 11 infantry battalions, 3 cavalry squadrons, 3 artillery batteries.
The eastern side (33rd Infantry Division) will be assembled near the Lužianka villages
(Sarluska), Kajsa (Kajsza), Kynek (Könyök). The commander of the eastern group is Field Marshal Josef
Reicher. The eastern side consists of 12 infantry battalions, 3 cavalry squadrons and 3 artillery batteries.
In addition, exercise commander Feldzeugmeister Freiherr von Gatty has several units of his own
dispositions which are intended to check their unexpected entry into maneuvers
presence of mind and dispositional abilities of both commanders.
The 4th of September was a day of rest.
From September 5, both sides advanced against each other from the line Hlohovec (Freistadtl), Nitra and Vráble
(Verebely) The imperial court camp is located in the barracks camp in Nitra. Archduke Albrecht's command
and Field Armorer Baron von Gatty is located in Nitra.
